Submit Business – Disability Insurance

Your case coordinator is your one-stop resource for ensuring Principal Life receives the Individual Disability Insurance (IDI) information it needs to get cases evaluated fairly, underwritten smoothly and issued quickly.

Once an application is submitted, Principal Life will confirm receipt with a "Welcome Message" within 3 business days.
Tips for email submission
- Subject line: Include the policy number (if known) or the client’s last name and first initial.
- Email message: Provide the field office contact information.
- Attach the signed applications and all required forms. You can use this email address to submit any attachments for new or pending applications.
Attachment size guidelines:
- Password protected documents and photos of forms (e.g., photos taken with a smartphone or tablet) cannot be accepted.
- Maximum attachment size: 10MB (20MB for eApp)
- If your attachments exceed the maximum size, submit the information in two separate emails. Indicate in the subject line that you are sending multiple emails (e.g., Subject line: [Policy number] email 1 of 2)
- When scanning a document for an attachment, you can reduce the file size by scanning the document in black and white. You may also adjust the resolution so it is not greater than 300 dpi (dots per inch). Refer to your device’s user guide to adjust these settings.
For Business Centers of the Principal Financial Group®, follow these steps to adjust settings on your local MFP device:

- From the touchpad on the MFP, choose the “Email” option and log in.
- Choose the “More Options” button.
- Under “Resolution”, check that the resolution is 300 dpi or smaller. Adjust the setting as needed to lower the dpi.
- Under “Color/Black”, change the setting to “Black”.
- Under “Optimize Text/Picture”, select “Text”.
- Send the email to DINB@exchange.principal.com.
