Two self-funded vision coverages are available:
- Principal Life Scheduled Design – This reimbursement option allows employees to visit the provider of their choice and has benefit amounts that can be changed in small increments.
- VSP Managed Care Design – The VSP Choice Plan, available through Principal Life, is a premier full-service plan with flexibility and maximum value through a VSP Preferred Provider.

- Sell a self-funded VSP vision offering alongside an insured dental offering on groups of 50+ lives.
- Suggest self-funded coverage to growing businesses. Clients with as few as 50 employees are eligible for self-funded coverage.
