Don't let clients walk away with less coverage than they qualify for
When you submit a life insurance application through Accelerated Underwriting* with a face amount below $1 million, the underwriter will review the case to determine the maximum amount of eligible coverage. In some cases, this may be more than what was requested on the application.
How to obtain the additional coverage**
- Once approved, you’ll receive an email notifying you if your client is eligible for a higher face amount than what was applied for. The notice will also indicate that the higher face amount is available without further underwriting.
- If you choose to present the higher offer to the client, you must notify your Case Coordinator within 24 hours of the email notification so he or she knows about the change prior to issue.
- If you don’t respond within the 24-hour window and if all policy requirements are received in good order, the policy will be issued as originally applied for.
* Accelerated Underwriting is an expedited underwriting program offered by Principal Life Insurance Company. Applicants may qualify based on age, product, face amount and personal history.
** Variable Life products are not eligible for the Accelerated Underwriting additional coverage offering due to suitability concerns.
