Among Hispanic/Latino workers, 6 in 10 say they're not feeling financially secure.1
You can help Hispanic employees with a financial plan that helps fuel their dreams. Combining your guidance and the bicultural resources from Principal® Hola Futuro, you can be a proactive advocate to help Hispanic business owners and plan participants thrive financially.
See where you can help employees feel more financially secure:
Debt is different and short-term finances may be a struggle.
For over half of Hispanic/Latino workers, debt is an issue that impacts their day-to-day lives. Only 40% say they can enjoy life now because of how they're handling money and 58% plan on working in retirement or a phased retirement.1
Employer-sponsored plans are the primary source of retirement income.
This could be why Hispanic/Latino savers are planning to work longer. 86% plan to leverage their employer-sponsored plan as a top source of income.1
They have a goal but aren't confident they'll reach it.
Despite being enrolled in employer-sponsored retirement plans and expressing a desire to learn more about financial security, Hispanic/Latino workers still aren't sure they're on the right track. 84% have a savings goal, but only 36% are confident they'll achieve it.1
Family is a big part of retirement planning.
More time with family tops the list of what Hispanic/Latino retirement savers hope to do later in life. 7 out of 10 expect to live near one of their children in retirement. 61% feel family support is essential during retirement and 26% feel they'll need to provide financial support for parents or inlaws in retirement.1
Educational materials that help set you apart
Our approach to financial wellness goes beyond language. Using research and insights from Hispanic consumers, we can help you reach them in a way that builds relationships and trust.
Bicultural vs. bilingual
Our unique bicultural approach is broader than language. It means navigating seamlessly between Hispanic and non-Hispanic cultures. This bicultural experience delivers financial education that resonates with Hispanic employees and helps you build your business.
Transcreate vs. translate
Language matters. We don’t just translate word for word for the Spanish-speaking audience. We transcreate messages to retain financial meaning while incorporating cultural relevance. For instance, we might focus less on portfolio “risk” and emphasize “security.” Or recognize how the notion of sacrificing for the good of their family is culturally important when talking about retirement savings.
Build trust
Trust isn’t built overnight. It’s nurtured through a deep appreciation of culture and values. We’ll help you bridge the connection to complex retirement education topics, helping you build trust with your clients' participants.
